At Trailblazers Academy, every student is assigned a Family Advocate when he/she begins her educational journey at the school.

What does Family Advocacy promote?

  • Services and supports based on family-identified needs and strengths
  • Equal partnerships with families in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of services
  • Family involvement in all aspects of a child’s care


What do Family Advocates provide?

  • Wrap-around services for families including assistance with referrals to community resources
  • Support transitioning into post-secondary services
  • Assistance with a child’s educational process
  • Services in the home or community to ensure full participation by all family members
  • Assistance for family members to be equal partners in all levels of assessment, planning, and implementation of services for their children

  • Social and emotional skill instruction
  • Anger management skill development
  • Behavior management strategies
  • Conflict resolution
  • Mediation
  • Healthy relationship-building techniques
